Things have gotten boring at Advocacy. I'm a little disappointed that I'm not given much work. Lately I've just been making contact lists and things of that nature. I'd love to write press releases or be involved in meetings, SOMETHING, but I doubt that's going to happen in these last few weeks I have left. I'm making the best of it, trying to learn as much as I can.

I feel like I'm in the same boat Melinda. I am personally ready for the internship to be over. They haven't taught me what I was hoping. I guess it just started off really good, and now they just give me busy work. I understand being an intern that what you get sometimes, but they could at least explain the theory behind something. Sometimes when I do draft the press release they don't even read them. They no longer give me comments on them, therefore its not all the constructive. I've only got a few more weeks to stick with it. But I'm not sure how many more hours I can work on a contact list.

I'm with you! I get a lot of busy work too, it's driving me nuts! I'm so glad it's over soon.
My employer did the same thing to me, it was great in the beginning and it just keeps going down hill. At least we all stuck with it! Now we can put it on our resumes and be done with it.

sorry to hear that some of the placements have gotten to where they feel like a drag-
especially Ashley, if u don't feel as though you even get the critique u would hope for.

Hang in there -- The fact that you have the experience will be more worth it later rather than sooner.

Its all good. Yesterday I helped they plan a year long PR campaign for the Rhode Island Resource Recovery. That was pretty interesting, I actually enjoyed that a lot. We thought of alternate ways of advertising for an event to go along with each season that promotes recycling. I was in charge of researching other state resource recovery plans and come up with a detailed pr strategy to get rhode islanders involved. We came up with educational events and possible press worthy events that would get coverage from the media. All and all it was fun.

If every day was like that I would really enjoy it much more. I have a feeling that they want to give me less busy work- but there wasn't just much more things for me to do.

Anyways-- Prof Palombo, what are you expecting for the evaluations? When and what? Thanks

This is my last week and I have to say I could not be happier. I think that the experience was definately worth it, I just don't like the work that I'm doing which makes it really boring.

The good news is that I have future references to use for job seeking purposes, and I have a huge resume builder. I am really happy about that, after all its all about the impressive resume, right?!

I would recommend an internship to everyone, there not always going to be pleasant, but the experience is something that cannot be gained elsewhere.

Tomorrow is my last day and I am so excited to be done with this experience. I want to run and never look back! I updated my resume and was able to add two references to my list; that is my main accomplishment with this internship. I suppose that is could have been worse, but I was pretty bored for about 90 hours of the time I spent in the back room of a cold storage building. I know now that I do not have the sales gene unless I am selling something that I am truely passionate about. At least I can say that I learned something about myself in the long run.

Hi Amanda - U Really are saying something in learning, u do not have "the sales gene" honestly that means a lot -- I found that out after being a partner in a media production company, it cost me a whole lot more than an internship, really -- so even if that was what you got back from it, it was worth it --- sales required a particular individual -- when you have it though, u can do very well financially -- Trade off I suppose

My hours are almost done and my internship is coming to a close. I really enjoyed my internship and appreciated that they gave work that was comparable to the full time designers. I learned a lot a bout design, printing, people management, and effective time management. I will honestly miss the people and the work when I leave. Hopefully I will be able to keep in touch once I am gone and keep my networking alive. This may help down the road when something opens up there or somewhere else.

Last week at LDI I did a lot of clean up work. There was a lot of paperwork for House Rules & Empire State (the 2 pilots) that needed to be completed with the AFTRA/SAG office. These forms (TAFT Heartlys) were something I wanted to learn how to fill out ... and I got a lot of practice doing them because there were so many. So now I feel really well rounded in the area of Casting ... I've done everything that there is to do and know at LDI (mostly)!
I'll be writing more at the end of the week ...
