Over! I did my hours and concluded my experience at Vision Strategies. I don't regret it, although I wish It would have been a little different. I learned a lot- but nothing I was expecting to learn. Coming out of this experience I feel like i have a much better understanding on the opportunities that are head of me. I have a reference letter, a resume builder and a good idea as to what to expect in the field I'm entering. I'm happy with that. I've still got time to do another-thats if i have the ambition to do it next semester.

The past few weeks at my internship have been going well. I sent out some press releases, researched some expanding markets, and did a little office work. I am enjoying my time here and I am learning things from my work here. The main agent I have been working with was out for the past two weeks, he is back this week and I will be working with him again. While he was out I was working with the Marketing Director. He has mailings and client related research that I need to get done. I only have a few more hours to complete here. I hope I can get a good reference from this experience and take what I learned into the work force. We will see what my last days have to offer.....

The past couple weeks weather has been a major influence on my progression. I work with the sports info director @ RIC who is Scott Gibbons. Taping games live is mostly what i do.

Finishing up the week at LDI there is still a lot of paperwork that needs to be filled out to send to the AFTRA office. To me this is the BORING part ... calling people getting there info ... having them send us head shots and resumes ... putting together packages to send to the AFTRA office. It may seem simple enough but there seems to be SOMETHING WRONG ALWAYS.

Career wise ... not sure if I want to go further in the direction of casting its self or what ... but I'm glad for the opportunity ... I have a GREAT BOSS Anne Mulhall, and great co-workers. Overall this has been a great experience. I finished my intern hours a while ago however I don't mind being at LDI to help out, because the people I work with are awesome. Dealing with the extras and actors I can do without.

I've met a lot of different people while interning, who do different things so those contacts will be great to have when I plan out my future "career wise" ...

This is my last week at my internship and I'm glad. While it started off good, it ended up...boring. They gave me little to do and most things they gave me were making media lists. Last Friday my internship coordinator wasn't here and I was upset that he never told me because I sat here and basically did nothing. I asked for my evaluation form to be done by today, but I have not seen him yet today. I was really hoping this internship would be an opportunity to learn a lot about the field and get great experience, and that opportunity has been limited. At least I will be able to add this experience to my resume and I'm looking forward to starting my career. I'm making the best of this last week!

So the semester is ending soon and for once it hasn't seemed to have dragged by at a glacial pace! the same cannot be said of my OTW internship, no it hasn't been slow, it wont be ending with the semester. I have been pretty busy at the office, and I actually enjoy it. Its quite different from my paying job which is both good and bad I guess. Either way I'm going to stick around during the summer, although probably just one day a week.

Anyways, some catching up to do about what I've been up to. Our 2009 Striper Cup has been taking up the majority of my time. This year Jimmy is running the contest for the first time, someone else who recently left the company had been the head of the project since its inception in 2006. So for Jimmy and I, we have had some work ahead of us with me being the "greenhorn" and Jimmy being relitively new to the company and contest as well (he was actually an intern about a year or two ago). Recently I had to put together packets for the tackle shops who would be weigh stations (weigh the striped bass entered for the competition, on a certified scale.) which included brochures, return envelopes, and weigh slips. I also had to call several shops from the southern tip of NJ all the way to Maine to see if we could get them on board as weigh stations. A few weeks ago I was doing packets about the new issue (NY/NJ edition) to area journalists, so I am getting used to doing mailings now. Today i worked on another set of mailings for the launch of Striper Cup 2009, those still need a final version of the press release which we worked on today.
One of the great parts about this internship is that they let me do all sorts of differnt things involving the magazine and the TV show. I get to see how differnet aspects of communucations work to make the magazine (and the suplementary tv show work.) sucessful. I think seeing the entirety of the organization is more benificial to my education than just doing pr stuff. So today I helped out with the upcoming season of the TV show, by typing up a rough draft of the closed captioning and some of the voice overs. The process was both fun (watching an episode on live lining pogies in the upper bay-one of my favorite tactics) and tedious (rewinding the dvd to try and figure out what our publisher is saying as he fights a fish-awesome guy but a little A.D.D. and a heavy boston/mass accent) Needles to say my determination to do the whole episode made it a late night, I left at 630. Usually I can leave around 3:00-4:00. That being said I'll post more tomorrow to make up for missing a few...working 40+ hours this weekend and doing 8 am to 630 at the internship (plus the 57 mile comute each way) I need to hit the sack!

Now that the semester is coming to a close I took a little time to think about what I'd like to do in the future career wise. (as it relates to the internship) I thouroghly enjoyed my time at OTW, so I will continue working there over the summer most likely. While I'm a pr major I got to experience alot more than just pr stuff, it was really cool to see how a magazine works from the inside, and not really what I expected. (in a good way) It is also interesting going from my current restaurnt job to the internship at the office, two very different worlds. Once i was at the end of the workweek for each job i felt like i liked that one more, which was weird. then it starts over again. I would love to work for the magazine and be paid for it (or another mag). I guess its going to be time to start looking for jobs soon with graduation coming up. While OTW is on a hiring freeze I have made some good contacts and got some valuable experience. Hopefully I'll be able to find a job in this current doom and gloom economy, untill then I guess I'll be making martinis and selling sirlions at the Grille!

My internship has been amazing lately and I am so glad. It was hard being out with the flu for so long and after this last week being back in full swing and making up hours I realized that I really enjoy it.

We have been working on projects for the end of the year--everything from Alumni Reunion to graduation and it is very interesting to see how all these things tie in.

We also had a PR crisis or two last week and it was really interesting to see how it was handled. I don't want to go into details--that wouldn't be good PR, but I was really pleased to see how my gut reaction were exactly right! It made me feel like all this studying is totally worth it and that it is truly paying off! I am really enjoying parts of things I do and I am glad that it is not over yet!!

Because the season was still going on while my intership started i have been doing a lot of hours towards the end of the semester. The softball team won their conference again this weekend for like the 5th season in a row, it was a great game 1-0. At the game in the press box i got to meet the commissioner of our league John Harper. When you think of someone as the commissioner of a league they are expected to be the big boss pointing out orders to a lot of people. He produced the online broadcast of the tournament as he did other operations. I learned that when you have the highest postion in many cases you have to know how to do a lot of things, you must posess a lot of skills also. I did the camera and i also did other operations with functioning the tournament.
