Finishing up the week at LDI there is still a lot of paperwork that needs to be filled out to send to the AFTRA office. To me this is the BORING part ... calling people getting there info ... having them send us head shots and resumes ... putting to…
Last week at LDI I did a lot of clean up work. There was a lot of paperwork for House Rules & Empire State (the 2 pilots) that needed to be completed with the AFTRA/SAG office. These forms (TAFT Heartlys) were something I wanted to learn how to fill…
Things are slowing down at LDI. House Rules wrapped last week, and this is Empire State's last week. I'm definitly greatful I got a taste of what to expect, should I decide to take this career path. It's a very high stress, fast paced career ... but…
The casting call this past weekend was slow, definitley not as big as ones we've had in the past. We didn't do a lot of press, so that was expected. Also this past week/weekend I shot some footage of the office atmosphere, the casting call, and Sund…

I like it a lot... I hope I can get a PA job immediately after I'm done here at Brotherhood. Yes I was "in" on Monday, but at the office, not at LDI. I want to go to set on location more so maybe I'll see you around one day?

Today I did a lot of filing and getting headshots in order ... I also booked some people for auditions ... i also learned about one liners and day out of day sheets ... one liners are a document which breaks down the order of how the scenes for brotherhood will be shot also locations ... and day out of days sheet gives all the shooting days for the actors ... its pretty interesting to look at. ... i will try to post copies of each ... on the day out of days sheet
SW = Start Work
H = Hold - which means dont book any other jobs (actor wise) because we may need you the actor gets paid for these days which is pretty nice.
W=Work
WF=Work Finish like last day of work
SWF= Start Work Finish pretty much thats your only day to shoot

Also another interesting thing I noticed was the number of times an actor would come in and say to my boss… “So and so referred me to you” or someone will call and say “Anne emailed me can I speak with her” and sometimes she did personally email them and other times it was a general email they got. The point I’m trying to get at though is that people in this industry want to develop a “friendship” or a sense of comradery with the person in charge.
From this point up I have given you a rough description of what I have completed on a day to day basis from the end of the summer through now. My following entries will be more cohesive and will give a weekly explanation of my job duties, and things I’ve learned.

Today I learned what a Taft hartly form is. When actors or extras that are in AFTRA, S.A.G, or even non union get a role their information needs to be sent to S.A.G. Their info is sent to make sure that if they’re in the union that they are current on paying their union dues and also it checks to see if a non union person should be getting union paid. For instance if someone not in the union gets a speaking part in a TV show and then is asked to come back as that same character they need to be paid like a member of S.A.G. Also if a non union person gets picked for a role, you (the casting department) needs to explain to S.A.G why that person was picked over someone else who was in the union. Along with the explanation you need to send the persons head shot and resume in.
Today I also did some filing and putting headshots in order. At L.D.I we have a online database with actors profiles but we also have hard copies of individuals headshots. Sometimes we need to pull these headshots for whatever reason, so we put them in Alphabetical order. Right now we left off on the letter D.
There is also a set being built today for the T.V. show brotherhood at our office. I guess on Monday they will be shooting, so my boss told me to try to drop in and look at them filming. I believe they are setting up a Drs. Office. So hopefully I will be able to sit in and watch.
In addition today I booked numerous individuals to come in for an audition on Monday for a speaking part on the T.V show brotherhood. My boss will send out a mass email to the actors that she wants to come in and audition. They will call and ask for me and I create a spread sheet with audition times (which usually run every 10mins). If no one picks up I leave a voicemail and generally they are excited and return the call promptly. The usual questions I’m asked when I book are “What is the role” and is it extra/background or a speaking part. With speaking parts it helps with actors not only money wise but career wise. I believe extras get paid sixty dollars for an eight hour day.
